I do not like cakes that are too sweet. I am very pleased to have tried this ” Dark Side” choc cake. Its not sweet and you can taste the rich chocholate cake and ganache that melts in the mouth. The caramelised almonds give a sweet aftertaste when eaten with the cake. I would recommend for people who love rich chocholate taste but wihout the extra sweetness to mask the sl bitter taste of chocholate.

The garnishes are not only there for decoration , as it contributes texture and flavour which pairs well with the chocolate and honey flavour. One of my friends said the sticky slight stretchiness of the honey coating the nuts was her favourite part of the cake , as it gave a satisfying visual experience and good balanced mouthfeel.
As for the sponge , it’s rich and fudgy which IMO is prefect for chocolate cakes. The centre cream layer had a good amount of sweetness which balanced out the bitterness of the chocolate sponge.
Overall love the mature decoration of the cake , love the different textures. Definitely recommend for people who have appreciation for not so sweet dessert cakes ! Probably espresso or long black lover like I am.

Dark Side Chocolate Cake
Honey was a great alternative to sugar, especially if you’re considering a healthier choice for the elderly. Plus, went perfectly with dark chocolate. Was worried it would be too dark for my liking, but not at all the case. Wouldn’t mind ordering it again. Yummylicious. <3March 11, 2020
