Which Cake Should I Choose? [part 1]

I know… We have a lot of cakes to choose from. For seasoned customers the choice is easy, just pick anything and most likely it will be good to excellent. However, I understand that if you have not had any of our Kuké cakes before, or perhaps just tried one of our items during a birthday or company function, then to choose the perfect cake that will make your loved one melt in your arms in love can be a challenge….

That is why I thought to write this post. Firstly, to give you a starting point and secondly to show you that even though I have reduced the options… there is still too many to choose from! I am evil. This will be the first in the series of flavours or circumstances with many more to come.

So let’s begin!

“I love chocolate cakes”

Ok. This is always the most challenging one as it requires me to first differentiate whether you are a dark chocolate lover or a regular chocolate lover. It’s quite straight forward to discern. Do you buy chocolate bars that are more than 75% cocao? If the answer is no, then the choice is clear.

The 5 Shades of Chocolate is the clear winner in this category for those of who prefer their chocolate on the less bitter end. It is our best selling cake on our site and is considered as our go to cake for everyone in the whole world. We have yet to find anyone that doesn’t enjoy eating this cake and that says a lot! Creating this cake was a long endeavour with some serendipity piled on and it has truly been worth it [I can imagine a post on this soon]. I doubt any other cake maker is willing to put so much effort into a cake as we have and it shows too! If you haven’t tried it yet and you enjoy your chocolate cake, I highly recommend you give it a try. Guaranteed to satisfy that chocolate craving.

But wait…. What if I answered yes? Then we head to the next category.

I love bitter chocolate!!!

So now is the time to test how much you truly love your dark chocolate, as we have 3 cakes to recommend for you!!!

[told u this wasn’t going to be easy]

Why 3 choices? It’s a long story but we basically have a major chocolate lover in our family and all these chocolate cakes were our attempts to give her more options to choose from. So we ended up trying different variations so that she wouldn’t get bored of ordering the same cake. Ok, let’s go back to the choices.

The first is our classic chocolate cake – Chocolate Ever After. In our opinion, its the 3rd best of the lot but to many customers it is still a favourite. Many customers enjoy the chocolate sponge which is moist and dense, almost fudge-like. It’s not like your typical chocolate sponge that you get in Malaysia so please be prepared. It’s not light and fluffy and spongy. It’s dense, moist and rich! As such, it’s a very decadent cake full of flavour with a dark bittersweet chocolate frosting. If you are on a budget but love your dark chocolates then I recommend this to you. You won’t be disappointed.

The second in our list and by no means a slouch is our Satine…. Made with Valrhona chocolate, the frosting is well-balanced with a dark roast and hints of spice and the sponge is super soft and moist. It’s part of our premium collection and one of our favourite cakes in Kuké. Remember the family member who loves chocolate? This is her favourite cake amongst all the cakes we have at Kuké.

And finally, our favourite dark chocolate cake and another premium collection special – Isadora. We use a single origin chocolate from Madagascar for the frosting which gives it a subtle hint of fruitiness and a fresh tang that elevates the dark cocoa flavour. Similar with the Satine, the sponge is soft and moist [a different sponge from the Satine] and easy to eat. We love the Isadora because it’s not just a chocolate cake. With the single origin chocolate we use, the flavour of the chocolate has a little something different. If you haven’t eaten many chocolate cakes before then this might not be the cake for you. It is really for those that appreciate a good complex chocolate flavour – a delight for true chocolate connoisseurs.

Isadora - A chocolate connoisseur's cake. Made with single origin chocolate from Madagascar it has hints of fruitiness and a fresh tang. In my opinion, the best dark chocolate cake in Kuala Lumpur

In fact, Isadora is actually part of a duo act. When we create our premium collection we envisaged a premium chocolate cake for ladies and men. Isadora is our embodiment of a refined ladies chocolate cake.

[note to self – write a post about how we created the series]

On the flip side, we have Dominion…. the gentleman’s chocolate cake. We have not yet launched Dominion however, I believe it should be ready for Father’s Day 2021. It’s another dark chocolate cake using another single origin chocolate. We will share more about Dominion later.

If you are looking for a sophisticated dark chocolate cake, Isadora is the cake for you.
